Students worked so hard this year to create gorgeous folios. Level 1 painting, Level 2 photography, painting and graphic design (advertising). So lovely to see all the support from whanau, staff and friends.
We art teachers really enjoyed the level 3 exhibition evening on Wednesday. It was a celebration of the culmination of the years work and the talent on display was stunning! It was so lovely to see students, friends, families and whanau, teachers and our principal Janette Melrose all popping in for a visual feast. The literal feast was also VERY nice with students bringing in a plate of food to share. All the best students for your exams and future, fly free level 3s! Keep in touch!

Happy Halloween Wainuiomata!! To celebrate the art department bought proper face-paints and junior art classes had the option of face-painting today. We also set up a facepaint station in the A block courtyard at interval and lunchtime so that every school student could have the chance to paint their own face or their friends faces... for free. Thankyou Mr Bell, Miss Dyson, Jazmine and Alisha who were talented artists who got roped into painting a lot of students faces.
Arty friends and family are welcome to an evening celebrating the culmination of the years work.
It was awesome last year and we are looking forward to this year. The work is gorgeous!
Art students are required to bring a plate of food to share.

Full on Level 2 hand in day for Graphic Design, Painting and Photography subjects! All external folios were due in by 4pm today, and are worth 12 credits each. Some students were in the computer labs and art rooms all of their breaks today, and every spare minute this last week; printing, painting, trimming and sticking down their work. Students with more then one art subject were super busy.
We were pleased with how smoothly and calmly the day went and with all of our students who have managed their time well and some even got some folios in early. Well done Year 12s. Visual Arts is over for the year! Also a manaakitanga shout out for all friends who helped out. Tu Meke!
... now all arty students can start thinking about your themes for next year : D
What a fantastic concert of talent! thankyou to Hazel Fenemor for organising this. Held on the last Friday of term 3.
I love it when my designers show me up as the teacher! This is way cooler then my grease poster. Well done Shevana!!
Over the past 4 weeks Year 9 students have been involved with a new, school wide initiative called 'My personal Learning Day' or MPLD for short which runs every Wednesday. This will be running for the whole year in 2019 and will involved all Year 9 and 10 students. Students selected their preferred focus from Arts, Environment, Foods, reporting, sports, Te ao Maori, techno world, and the Bush. Here are some of the projects the Arts students got up to over the 4 weeks. We didn't have enough time to complete all of our projects but the same students will return to the Arts MPLD next year and will be able to complete them then. Staff are looking forward to seeing how the new year 9s enjoy learning in this way.
